Wedding Planning at the Derrynane: A Step-by-Step Guide

Planning a wedding at the Derrynane is a long, happy process and we promise to make it the easy part of your year. Here is roughly how it works.

Step 1 — Get in touch

Email or call us with your rough date(s) and guest numbers. Within a day or two you will have a personalised proposal back from our wedding coordinator with availability, package options and indicative costs.

Step 2 — A site visit

We strongly recommend an in-person visit before you commit. Come and see the dining room, the deck, the front lawn, the ceremony spaces and a couple of the rooms. Have a meal in the restaurant. We can lay out the dining room in your proposed layout if it helps you picture it.

Step 3 — Sign and deposit

A signed agreement and a deposit secures your date. We will then introduce you to the named coordinator who will be your single point of contact from now until the morning after the wedding.

Step 4 — The slower months

Most of the heavy planning lives in the six months before the wedding. Menu choices and tasting; bedroom block management; supplier introductions (florist, photographer, music); civil-ceremony paperwork if you are getting married on-site.

Step 5 — The week of

Final headcount confirmed 7 days before. Welcome event (often in the bar) the night before. We do the rest.

Step 6 — The day itself

You enjoy your wedding. We worry about everything else.

A note on exclusivity

For weddings of 60+ guests it is usually possible to take exclusive use of the hotel and all 70 bedrooms — meaning your entire guest list stays on-site. Ask your coordinator about exclusive-use availability on your date.
